Format

ULC exams are typically held under standard conditions — a physical exam centre, time limit and written questions. Candidates with disabilities can request reasonable adjustments — extra time, accessible format and similar accommodations.

Reasonable adjustments are not automatic — they must be requested in advance and supported by medical or other documentation. Contact ULC at least 2–4 weeks before your planned exam date.

Preparation

Preparation with a disability does not need to differ in substance — the A2STS platform is accessible and supports standard browser accessibility features (larger text, contrast settings).

Candidates with hearing impairments are not disadvantaged, as A1/A3 and A2 exams are written. Visual impairments may require specialist formats — discuss the options with ULC in advance.

Mocks

A2STS supports browser accessibility features — you can use screen readers, audio tools or contrast settings according to your needs.

Running mock exams under your own hardware conditions (with assistive technology if you use it) better prepares you for the real exam under the same conditions.

Is ULC obliged to provide adjustments for candidates with disabilities?

Can the A1/A3 test be taken with assistive technology?

The A1/A3 online test through the ULC portal may support browser accessibility features. If you have specific needs — test them in advance and contact ULC if assistance is required.
