EU drone regulations in 2026
Regulations set the framework; your NAA implements exams and registration. Both matter for legal operations.
1. Core legal layers
EU level: 2019/947 and EASA AMC/GM. National: registration portals, exam booking and enforcement.
2. Open category recap
Subcategories A1, A2, A3 define where and how you may fly without a full operational authorisation.
3. Specific category entry
When open limits are exceeded, move to STS or another authorisation path with documented risk control.
4. Remote identification and registration
Operator registration and aircraft marking rules still apply — exam questions increasingly reference them.
5. Staying current
Check EASA and your NAA at least quarterly. A2STS content is updated for exam preparation — always verify law for operations.
