Drone exam stress
Mocks reduce stress — familiar format in the NAA exam room.
Contents
Format
The TKA A2 exam takes place at a physical venue with a time limit — 30 questions in 30 minutes. This format creates pressure that tests not just knowledge but the ability to perform under stress.
The online A1/A3 test is often taken at home in a familiar environment. However, the time limit and ≥75% threshold can still cause anxiety, especially the first time.
Preparation
The best stress-reduction tool is familiarity with the format. Candidates who have completed 5–10 mock exams under identical conditions (same time limit, same question count, same answer structure) experience significantly less anxiety on exam day.
Learn a time management strategy: answer questions you are confident about first, then return to uncertain ones. Do not spend more than 60 seconds on any single question.
Exam tip
Mistakes
A common mistake: overthinking a single question and losing time for the rest. If you have not answered after 60 seconds — flag it and return later.
Another mistake: changing answers in the last few minutes. Research shows that the first intuitive answer is more often correct than a last-minute change, especially without any specific new information.
Mocks
A2STS mock exams replicate the TKA format — same question count, same time, same scoring system. In each mock, monitor your time management, not just the final score.
At least one or two mocks should be done under exam-like conditions: same time of day, silence, no distractions. This pre-conditions your nervous system for the real exam.
Frequently asked questions
- What should I do if panic sets in during the exam?
- Stop and take three deep breaths. Re-read the question slowly. Remember that you know the material — panic is emotional, not a knowledge deficit.
- Is it worth intensive revision the day before the exam?
- Better to do a light review, not intensive cramming. Heavy study the day before can create additional stress and confuse already consolidated knowledge.
